Away

I can't believe it has been so long since I have posted to my own blog!
Let me update;
Completed my Professional Certification June 2009 and my Masters in Education December 2009. Since then I have moved into a new apartment and I am now teaching 3rd, 4th and 5th grade at the same private school.

I have released the salamanders and I am currently going for weekend frog hunts. It is supposed to snow this week, so the frogs have not been too busy with eggs yet.
My new (frozen) bird bath during the November 2010 cold snap! Now the bowl has a crack in the bottom and will not hold water.

Juvenile Northern Flicker

Today there were four, yes, four juvenile northern flicker (woodpeckers) on my deck. One of them decided it needed a bath.

Another Monday Moment

Only in Western Washington . . . would my students feel the need to wear their coats over their heads, while outside, in order to read their books, without having the sunshine glare in their faces. I laughed, teased, took pictures and posted it on my blog and yet, I agree with them whole heartedly!

A Monday Moment

I have been using mechanical pencils for many years.
They are very convenient, never need sharpening, and are fairly cheep.

Since going back to school have been spending more and more time on my computer, using my mechanical pencils and a computer mouse.

I have now discovered a down fall to the combination of mechanical pencil lead and a computer mouse. When one does not know that a small piece of lead has broken off their pencil and become trapped under said computer mouse, this is the rather artistic result:

In search of spring

As I try to decide between spring planting or continued winter hybernation, I went onto my deck to look for some signs, any sign, of spring. There are three days until April 1 and yet as I photographed spring, it was snowing! Arrrgh . . . . .

Early Christmas Vacation (aka) SNOW DAY

I have lived in western Washington my whole life and I am 37 years old, however, I still hope and pray and watch the news to see if my school is closed for snow!
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday were 2 hour late start and Wed and Friday we had off! I know we will have to make up the time but I don't care. Driving was difficult and it is very cold and windy!!
Enjoy the few photos, I will add more latter.

Salamander Dinner Rush

Here are my two long-toed salamanders as they "run" towards the human who feeds them.

Please note the background music and dialogue of Pride and Prejudice, hey, I am working on my masters, what do you expect me to be watching/listening to while writing papers about teaching reading, writing and math and making salamander videos?!

Enjoy!
